Porsche 911 992.1 GT3 Touring

Description

The Porsche 911 GT3 Touring (992.1) combines the engineering of the classic GT3 with a much more understated appearance. At the rear lies the familiar 4.0-litre naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine, delivering 510 pk (375 kW) and 470 Nm. The engine revs up to a staggering 9,000 rpm and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, giving this GT3 a particularly direct and mechanical driving experience. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes around 3.9 seconds, whilst the top speed is around 320 km/h.

Under the bonnet, the Touring is almost entirely based on the standard GT3. It features rear-wheel drive, rear-axle steering, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Torque Vectoring with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. The aerodynamics are also taken directly from the GT3 family, but the large fixed rear wing has been replaced by an automatically deployable rear spoiler. This gives the Touring a much more understated appearance, whilst retaining the same serious technical foundation.

The biggest difference, therefore, lies in the philosophy. Whilst the standard GT3 immediately reveals its track-focused character, the Touring Package maintains a more understated appearance. Combined with the six-speed manual gearbox, the high-revving naturally aspirated engine and the fact that there is no turbo or hybrid powertrain involved, this is a 911 that focuses strongly on pure driving feel and direct engagement.
